Hilton Cariari DoubleTree San Jose - Costa Rica

I always come to this hotel because it is nostalgic for me. I've known Cariari it since I was born. I am Costa Rican, but now live in the states. I come back often for work and play and stay here everytime I come. I love the decor and outdoor facilities and pool to enjoy Costa Rica's perfect ambient temperature! But why I come back, again and again, is because of its amazing staff. I always get greeted and made feel welcomed and at home. Seeing Julio every time is a treat! He treats us like family and he is a superb person! Hard-working and always ready to help with a smile. He always remembers us by name and takes the time to get to know us! I know he and many staff have been there for a while so having consistent staff tells me something about the management. I love to know they treat their staff right! The breakfast is great and love the pool environment as well as the proximity to restaurants and shopping AND airport! Free shuttle is great! I simply love Cariari! My home away from home!

The hotel is set in extensive gardens, close to the airport but still quiet. Our executive room was clean and comfortable, not luxurious by North American standards, but had a nice balcony overlooking the pool and access to the lounge, with free breakfast, daily happy hour with mixed drinks and wine, and an unlimited supply of water. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the Cariari Plaza, with lots of great restaurants with outdoor seating.

The hotel is relatively close to the airport and so we stayed there on the first and last night of our 20 day vacation. It is perfectly located if you have a late arrival or early departure and is also close to the car rental services for collection/dropoff. The hotel itself is the perfect combination of luxury and comfort, so you can relax without it feeling overly formal. There are plenty of things to entertain children and teens and the restaurant/bar staff are very helpful. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable (by European standards)

the staff were very friendly and very polite. As a single traveller ( and first solo trip) this went a long way to make me feel at ease. There were always staff around if you needed anything. The staff always seemed to be cleaning and it showed as the hotel always looked very clean. The room was very big as well and was spacey enough to have my yoga mat out to keep up my practise. The pool area, although quiet was very clean and felt relaxing. Also nicely lit up in the evenings which made a nice view from the restaurant. The tour bookings person was also very nice and friendly and I booked a city tour through him. Also a shop and some restaurants over the road to the right which was handy.

Room was surprisingly big, hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Also very close to the airport so perfect place to stay the night before or after a flight. The hotel also has a free shuttle to and from the airport during certain hours.
